N.F. Vatutin was an outstanding military leader. He was born in the village of Chepukhino (Vatutino) in 1901 in the family of a peasant. He served his country best during the Great Patriotic War (1941- 1945). N.F. Vatutin was awarded with The Order of Kutuzov for the victory in the Battle of the Kursk Bulge. The name of the Belgorodian General and a Hero of the Soviet Union is well-known in the Russian Federation.
S.A. Degtyarov was a talented composer and soloist. He was born in the village of Borisovka in 1766. He was the leader of the musical theatre of Count Sheremetev.
S. Khorkina is an outstanding athlete, who glorified our country. She was born in 1979 in Belgorod. She is a two-times Olympic champion, a many times champion of the world, Europe and Russia in gymnastics Now she is a deputy of the Duma. There is a modern Sport Palace named after S. Khorkina in Belgorod with a monument to Khorkina in front of it.
V.G. Shukhov was a scientist and an inventor. He was born in Graivoron. The main creation of Shukhov is the famous radio tower in Shabolovka Street in Moscow. His works can be seen in different regions of the Russian Federation, for example there is one in the Lipetsk Region.
M.S. Shchepkin was a prominent Russian actor. He was born in 1788 in the village of Krasnoye, the Yakovlevo district. K.S..Stanislavsky called Shchepkin “the pride of national art” The Belgorod Theatre is named after him.
